Q. What is catalog number 231A? Why isn't it in the catalog?
A. The number 231A was molded on most Twist-Lock plugs and connector bodies. It is a UL Listing number, not a catalog number.

Q. I have a lot of old non-NEMA devices that are dual rated. How come they are in the catalog but not dual rated anymore?
A. The 600 volt rating on the devices has been removed. If the application calls for this rating, you can no longer use these devices. New NEMA rated devices with the proper rating should be purchased.

Q. Will these new NEMA rated devices fit my old style devices?
A. No, the configurations will be different. All devices associated with the installation will need to be replaced.

Q. How do you wire a surge receptacle so it will provide downstream protection? It only has two terminals?
A. Surge Devices work across lines, not down. Wire them in parallel and do not wire standard receptacles downstream more than 20 feet away. Always remember, the best protection will be point-of-use.

Q. Will your GFCI devices work on 120V @ 50Hz?
A. No, Hubbell GFCI products can not be used on 50Hz.

Q. When I am installing Fire Rated Poke Throughs, why can't I install two right next to each other?
A .UL requires a minimum of 2 feet on center and not more that one per 65 sq. ft. of floor span.

Q. What is Hubbell's warranty on it's wiring devices?
A. Some products (TVSS, H-MOSS) have warranty information in the packages. For standard wiring devices we do not have a written policy, but we will replace any current product, as available, that is inoperative as a result of defect in manufacture.

Q. Do you sell European devices?
A. Hubbell manufactures IEC309 heavy duty Pin and Sleeve devices as well as an IEC320 appliance coupler.

Q. Do Hubbell receptacles and plugs meet NEMA WD1 and WD6?
A. Yes, NEMA WD1 is "self certifying" and states that devices are listed under UL498, the standard they were designed to. WD6 is the configuration standard for straight blade and locking devices. If any particular plug connector ao receptacle is UL listed, it meets WD1. If that same device is in fact a NEMA configuration is meets WD6. The old designation for devices was, Straight Blade- WD1 and Locking- WD5. Both have now been grouped together into WD6.

Q. Are the CS1200 series switches and the CR5252/CR5262 series of receptacles Fed. Spec. Listed?
A. Yes, The switches have always been Fed. Spec. WS896. The receptacles are listed to WC596.
